Connector is the strategy and engagement practice of the Canadian Urban Institute. We design and implement open and deliberative decision making processes that people trust. We also work with leading organizations to build engagement and decision- support processes for key decision-makers. Our practice believe that decisions are improved by understanding the perspectives, priorities and needs of the people affected by those decisions. People who effectively participate in informing decisions become knowledgeable supporters of those decisions in the longer run. Read more... 

 


What defines the Canadian Urban Institute is the quality of its research and its capacity to innovate. Refocusing on CUI’s innovation agenda is the most critical priority for CUI and this branch is tasked to achieve the development of a comprehensive research and innovation program. Beyond our education and events programs we also identify, develop and interpret innovations in urban policy, practice and technology and advance these through applied research to application. The International Partnerships centre is responsible for managing the Canadian Urban Institute’s international relationships and implementing our international activities.We focus on sharing information about the management and governance of urban regions, bringing Canadian expertise to our partners in developing and transitioning countries, and in turn harnessing learnings from their work and sharing these through both South-South and South-North partnerships. The Urban Solutions practice consolodates the CUI's applied policy field work and solutions into a single professional services unit. We address the opportunity to test solutions and innovative ideas that address policy, regulatory and financing gaps in municipal knowledge.  We work with a range of stakeholders across Canada and internationally in both the public and private sectors to translate ideas into workable solutions for cities and their regions. Read more...
