Education & Research

Who we are:

At the core of the Canadian Urban Institute’s role as Canada’s applied policy Institute, the mission of Education and Research (E&R) unit is to identify and capture examples of best practice by nurturing ideas and innovation for application in the field in Canada and abroad.

We do this by carrying out impartial research, convening educational events designed to accelerate the rate of progress and the quality of practice in urban areas, and collaborating with our colleagues in other units. The beneficial synergies resulting from combining these activities effectively position the CUI as a unique player in the urban arena. The net impact is to enhance the value of CUI to a growing network of our members, stakeholders and clients.

The educational mission is focused on developing and delivering a variety of conferences, seminars and workshops as well as unique educational opportunities such as study tours. The convening role played by the CUI brings together policy makers, practitioners and leaders from the public, private, academic and not for profit sectors.
