CUI International Youth Internships Program Continues another Successful Round of Summer Placements

Over the last two and a half months, six students have been working with CUI’s international projects in Jamaica, Philippines and Ukraine. They are participating in CUI’s summer International Youth Internship Program delivered through collaboration with York University, the Clinton School of Public Service at the University of Arkansas, and Bryn Mawr College of Pennsylvania.

Kerry Girvain (first from the right in the photo above), Gregory Cooper (second from the right) and Alia Luz (first from the left) are in Iloilo, Philippines. They are conducting field research for the State of the Watershed Report on one of the largest watersheds in Iloilo-Guimaras Region.  This report will help to raise awareness and build support for concerted action around environmental and disaster risk issues in the region.  Jessica Ranger and Liam Crawford are in Black River and Mandeville, Jamaica. They are developing communication materials and strategies to engage communities in local sustainable development planning process, and supporting implementation of community tourism and greening projects. Anatolyi Shatkovskyi was in Kyiv, Ukraine. He helped develop a web-based communication and outreach strategy to promote regional development in Ukraine.  Read about their experiences on CUI’s “Stories from the Field” page.
