BC Government Announces New Procurement Program to Support Major LED Streetlight Conversion Initiative

LightSavers Canada provided technical support and research on this ground-breaking procurement program that will support the eventual conversion of up to 330,000 streetlights across the Province of British Columbia. Coordinated by Shared Services BC, this initiative enables public entities to acquire pre-qualified LED products at economical prices.

"LED streetlights offer many benefits over traditional streetlights," said Phil Jessup, Director, LightSavers Canada, a Canadian Urban Institute program. "In addition to energy savings, LED lamps also reduce light pollution and improve visibility for motorists, thus making streets safer."

LightSavers Canada is a program of the Canadian Urban Institute. LightSavers Canada works with private and public sector organizations to increase adoption of LED lighting and smart adaptive controls. Natural Resources Canada provided generous support for this initiative.
